The study of the transition from school to work becomes relevant in both national and international context of increasing youthful unemployment. Abilities acquired in different educational systems which are capable to insert the young in the business market without reproducing the social stratification are discussed, promoting equal chances. This work intends to present a bibliographical summary of the recent controversy regarding the impact of vocational education in the educational and professional results reached by the young. On the other hand, it is defended as an efficient alternative to reduce the youthful unemployment. Keywords: Vocational education. Youthful unemployment. Social stratification
