In this paper, I propone to show the interest of integrating the perspective of Folk Linguistics (NIEDZSIELSKI, PRESTON, 2000) or Popular Linguistics (ACHAR- BAYLE & PAVEAU, 2008) in the framework of socioterminological studies (GAUNDIN, 1999), starting, especially, from the notions of trust and authority. To this end, I have chosen the field of renewable energy terminology as it is broadcasted in Internet forums. I will analyze the strategies created by forum devices and developed by users to build a legitimate and trustworthy discourse on which the negotiation, acceptance and appropriation of the specialty terms in these devices is based. In fact, the forums show both the existence of source legitimation strategies summoned by users throughout the debates, and the hierarchies of the speakers who may discuss more or less technical issues.
