The present work aims to analyze the passion of jealousy in a short story by the Ceará writer Moreira Campos, entitled "Os doze parafusos". By analyzing how a passion appears discursive in a specific text, we will thus be showing the main characteristic of the semiotic approach to passions: the syntagmatization of these in the discourse. For that, we will use the theoretical contribution of Greimas and Fontanille (1993) and the contributions of the tensive aspect, from Fontanille (1993, 2015), Fontanille and Zilberberg (2001), Zilberberg (2006, 2011) and Tatit (2010a, 2010b). At the end of this path of analysis, we believe that we can show not only the “image” that Moreira Campos creates of jealousy in his short story, but also how the subtleties of the Moreirian style, and of literary discourse in general, are at the service of approaching passions.
