This work presents a study of the song O amor é feio, composed and released by Marisa Monte, Carlinhos Brown and Arnaldo Antunes on the album Tribalistas (2002). Under the theoretical-methodological apparatus of Discursive Semiotics (GREIMAS; COURTÉS, 2011; ZILBERBERG, 2012) and Song Semiotics (TATIT, 2019, 1997), we investigated the enunciation strategies of the song in the treatment of love relationships. With the almost total predominance of the enuncive shifting out and the recurrence of only two melodic motifs, this song develops the enunciation of two points of view about love. These predications transit from dysphoric to euphoric values, but are progressively diminished, until they are emptied, promoting a kind of subject-object fusion, that seems to result in a full sense, in an absolute value of the love.
