ANTHROPOCENE AND RESISTANCE:
THE BRAZILIAN ANIMATION UMA HISTÓRIA DE AMOR E FÚRIA (2013) IN DIALOGUE WITH KRENAK

By analyzing the Brazilian animation Uma História de Amor e Fúria (2013), directed by Luiz Bolognesi and narrated by Selton Mello, in light of the Anthropocene and Ailton Krenak’s reflections (2019), this study proposes a film analysis that highlights cinema as a pedagogical tool capable of being instrumentalized, following the model of the education of the future envisioned by Morin (2000), in order to foster critical discussions on the human relationship with the planet and with systems of historical oppression. The aim is to investigate how this audiovisual production reveals the impacts of the Anthropocene and reflects mechanisms of resistance of possible humanities amidst civilizational crises. The research is based primarily on the studies of Francis Vanoye and Anne Goliot-Lété in Essai sur l’analyse filmique (1994) and on the theoretical contributions of Edgar Morin in Les sept savoirs nécessaires à l’éducation du futur (2000) and Ailton Krenak in Ideias para adiar o fim do mundo (2019). The methodological approach consists of an applied bibliographical review. The film, which follows a 600-year-old narrator-character across different oppressive historical contexts, allows for the extraction of a critical perspective on how societies have “developed” and constituted marginalized humanities whose resistance is constantly demanded.
