Based on the analysis of the short story "The Third Bank of the River" by Guimarães Rosa, we want to reflect on the actantial and tensive arrangement of the extraordinary event (or just event in the terminology of Zilberberg), either in their euphoric or dysphoric pole. The occurrence of these events necessarily implies a set of presence (actual or potential) of the values of convention and the rupture. We believe this tale embodies actantials forces that are in operation when these values are on the scene. Thus, it can function as a landmark for future studies on the extraordinary event.Downloads
