This paper analyzes the soap opera Vidas em Jogo, produced by the Record TV station, that is understood here as a text, i.e., an organized unit of meaning, due to the theoretical affiliation adopted, which considers any text an object provided with meaning. Among the theoretical tools provided by discursive semiotics, this work focuses on the narrative and discursive levels. By means of the analysis, we describe the narrative scheme discursively materialized through the themes and figures used in order to observe how its discourse reinforces the values that have been elected and disseminated by the broadcast company.
