This article discusses the meaning of suspense inside the semiotic theory, telling about aspects of the narrative tensiveness and their possible relations with adjustment, which is one of the interaction regimes proposed by E. Landowski. To do so, it presents a brief analysis of the soap opera, produced in Brazil, Avenida Brasil´s, in first episode (2012), aiming to point the importance of the cliffhanger or the frozen frames in the formation of its suspense. It is necessary to show that the cliffhanger, since it is an important syntagmatic suspension resource, is also a significant element of the interaction between the actants of enunciation.
