Abstract

This article aims to examine, through the analysis of P.K.Page’s poem “Planet Earth”, the use that this Canadian poet makes of explicit intertextuality, like the insertion of a mote from Pablo Neruda’s ode “In Praise of Ironing”, as theme for the development of her own glosas. This approach allows us to better evaluate how Page, as she enters into a relationship of transformation, transgression and amplification of the original text, is simultaneously making use of creativity and of criticism, through metapoetry, in this way confi rming the creative possibilities of intertextuality – as a privileged instrument of the word – to establish a dialogue among texts, literatures and nations.
