Latin American after the cold war: the new social-political and regional re-configuration

Abstract

This article intends to comprehend the social moves and the political changes in the Latin American in the two last decades, with the purpose of demonstrating that all those movements were the expression of the exhausted traditional power structures, and their incapacity to responding all the demands of the majority of Latin-American people. The social movements arising as well the new political forces will be also focused in this text. This work still examines the factors that conducted to the changes, as much the objectives and the subjectives ones, that have had contributed to create a new social and political configuration at the beginning of the XXI century. The perspective of the next presidential polls as well the results that came out of the last electoral cycle are discussed here in order to conceive how the progressives forces and the social movements in the region are influenced by this process and the US X Latin American relations.
