The present article aims to conduct a brief reflection on the process of construction of actorial identities in discourses. Anchored in the Semiotics of Discourse, the reflection focuses, among others, on the concepts of “actor” and “form of life”. The reflection highlights how the theoretical and methodological advances of the discipline allow problematizing relevant contemporary issues, such as sociocultural transformations in progress (and to come). Aiming to operationalize the discussion, the article brings some results of a doctoral research that aimed to explore the actorial figure “househusband” in Brazilian mass culture texts. The analysis highlights the repetition of a commonplace, since, in the constitution of the “househusband”, the thematic role of “father” stands out, the domestic form of life assumed being the result of the exacerbation of this role. The article thus reinforces the need to problematize the media enunciation directed at the masses, since, as evidenced, they do little to the denaturalization of gender practices and roles and to the reformulation of forms of life, which remain tied to the actors who assume them in temporal duration.
