Abstract

This paper investigates how the Brazilian editions of De l’imperfection (2002, 2017) operate a semiotic genre shift. It also examines how it reconfigures the reading practice originally proposed by Algirdas Julien Greimas in the De l’imperfection (1987). The analysis is based on three levels of relevance: text-enunciation, object-support, and editorial practice. This follows Jacques Fontanille’s model (2008), dialoguing with the notions of genre (Fontanille, 1999) and paratexts (Genette, 2009). It is understood that the Brazilian editions, by inserting prefaces, notes, and a critical apparatus, transition from the status of a work of art (or even a poetic “essay”) to a scientific disciplinary essay. They guide the reader toward a competency-based reading. Thus, the editorial work updates the existing work in the semiotic and academic fields, contributing to the advancement of Brazilian research.

Patricia Veronica Moreira, Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (Unesp)

Doutora pelo programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística e Língua Portuguesa (Unesp/Campus de Araraquara) em co-tutela com a Université de Limoges (Bolsista CAPES). Mestre em Linguística (2014) pela Universidade Federal de Goiás com bolsa CAPES. Bacharel em Linguística (2009) e licenciada em Inglês (2011) e Francês (2011) pela Universidade Federal de Goiás. Integra o Grupo de Pesquisa em Semiótica da Unesp (GPS-Unesp); o Seminário de Semiótica da Unesp (SSU) - evento promovido pelo grupo de pesquisa GPS-Unesp com o apoio do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística e Língua Portuguesa da UNESP/FCLAr. Atualmente, professora formadora de língua inglesa pela Prefeitura de Araraquara. Tem experiência na área de Linguística, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Historiografia Linguística, Semio-historiografia, Semiótica, Ensino de Línguas Estrangeiras e Tradução. Membro da Comissão de Semiótica da Abralin.

Jean Cristtus Portela, Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (Unesp), Araraquara, São Paulo, Brasil

Livre-docente em Semiótica pela Unesp de Araraquara (SP), realizou estágio pós-doutoral em Semiótica pela Universidade de Limoges (França), Doutorado em Linguística e Língua Portuguesa pela Unesp de Araraquara (SP), Mestrado em Letras pela Universidade Estadual de Londrina (PR) e Bacharelado em Comunicação Social: Jornalismo pela Unesp de Bauru (SP). É Professor Associado do Departamento de Linguística, Literatura e Letras Clássicas e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística e Língua Portuguesa da Faculdade de Ciências e Letras da Unesp, câmpus de Araraquara. É pesquisador do CNPq (Nível 2) e líder do Grupo de Pesquisa em Semiótica da Unesp (GPS-Unesp). Atualmente, é Assessor da Pró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação da Unesp. Foi Diretor da Faculdade de Ciências e Letras, câmpus de Araraquara. Autor, organizador e tradutor de diversas publicações científicas, desenvolve pesquisas em história e epistemologia das ciências da linguagem, especialmente da semiótica. Foi vice-coordenador do GT de Semiótica da Associação Nacional de Pós-graduação e Pesquisa em Letras e Linguística (ANPOLL) no biênio 2010-2012, integrou a Comissão da Área de Humanas da PROPe/Unesp (2011-2015), foi tesoureiro da Federação Românica de Semiótica (2015-2019), presidente da ABES - Associação Brasileira de Estudos Semióticos (2017-2023) e coordenador do projeto Capes/PrInt Unesp Linguagens e produção de conhecimento (2018-2024).
