Labor, vagrancy and anti-capitalism: an essay about Jack London’s nonconformist sociology

Jack London’s work is filled with references to his experiences living as a working-class child, a freshwater pirate, a nomadic hobo, a socialist militant as well as many other controversial facets of who he was. These are recurrent themes in his writing. This essay investigates how London approaches some of these themes and suggests that in his tales, literary art mingles with an unusual form of sociology.Downloads
