Abstract

The aim of this article is to evaluate some of the theory components related to the interdisciplinary tradition from the classic economic sociology of Thorstein Veblen (1857-1929), North-American economist and sociologist. Conventionally accepted as one of the most original critics to the Capitalism, Veblen’s theory carries the social relations perception in terms of instinct, thinking and life habits, and institutionalization of behavior patterns, reference elements for the comprehension of its institutionalism. Thus, our course in this essay was guided by the sociologist’s methodological critics to the neoclassical economical tradition, and also by the particular interpretation of the social sciences inside his works, approaching both the disciplinary universe of the sociology and economics.
