This article seeks to discuss if the system of protection of children and adolescents’ rights operates mainly as a biopolitical strategy, since agents of different backgrounds (public entities of various instances and levels, civil society) act within it in concert to encourage life and to suppress whatever can be considered dangerous. To do so, we utilize the concept of biopolitics used by Foucault and Pelbart in order to compare it with the law that regulates the system of protection of children and adolescents’ rights, in particular how the system works in the city of Itaobim/MG.
