Abstract

Biographical narratives of people with depression diagnosis residing in Argentina, who made public their condition on YouTube© in 2022-2023 are analyzed. Theoretical and conceptual contributions from sociology of diagnosis and digital narratives are included, in order to study the ways of making sense of depression by YouTube© users and commentators. Results include topics such as the process of reaching the diagnosis, the resignification of identity once the diagnosis is established on the narratives of those who tell their experiences and those who leave comments. As emerging topics from the study, the allusions to suicide as a biographical instance in the narratives about depression, and the confrontation of narratives between videos and comments, in relation to the diagnosis and possible treatments stand out.
