Abstract

This brief comment examines the reception of a specifi c book: Elephant (2000), by Francisco Alvim. The hiphotesys is that the book forms a particularly revealing fact of the relationship among authors, reviewers, editors and press in Brazil and therefore shows itself as adequated to illustrate ideas by Pierre Bourdieu about the literary fi eld functioning.
