Abstract

This essay addresses the shaping influence of Protestant Puritanism on the essential ways of acting and thinking of the U.S. population. Although ostensibly secular, the cultural traits of the society under study are in fact rooted in the religious values of the past. In the broader sense, they represent the approach to the rationalization of life relied on by the group.
