Narratives about the Bolsa Família Program in Florianópolis

Abstract

This article presents the outcomes of a research carried out by a multidisciplinary team composed of professors and students from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina in Florianópolis. By investigating representatives of, and women and men attended by the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) using a qualitative methodology, the research comprises a research carried out by Rede de Estudos Internacionais (SNIS)/ International Studies Network, coordinated by the Prof. François-Xavier Mérrien. The participants were researchers selected, in national ambit, by the Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica e Aplicada (IPEA). Run in four different neighborhoods in Florianópolis city, this part of the research aims at discussing the meaning attributed to the PBF by their beneficiaries. The results point at the approval and the importance of the inclusion of the respondents in the PBF, but they emphasize local particularities that must be considered in such relevant program.
