Abstract

The political-military organizations in Argentina in the seventies, particularly Montoneros and the PRT-ERP, tried to spread an image of militant engagement that was appealing to diverse groups that might take up the revolutionary fight. This article analyses the images through which women were invited to be a part of the fight, using the example of Montoneros. It will ask the question of how representative of real militant women these images were; and whether there are consequences to thus delineating the feminine forms of militancy, at a time when the presence of women in any front was troubling, no matter what kind of definition was attempted.
