The local dimension of syndical action: the metallurgists of ABC

Abstract

The aim of this work is to reflect on the action of the Metallurgist Workers Union of ABC – STM ABC – in the recent period, understanding the transformations occurred in the activity of this institution as a new phase in the action of metallurgists. We discuss the role of union strategies adopted to create a new dynamics, which focuses on the local development of the territorial area in its jurisdiction. The activity of the union has been, since the decade of 1990, to formulate, negotiate and coordinate local development forms. In the center of the union activity is a strong agglutinant role.
