The premise of the present article is the attempt to understand contemporary conservative Christian thought through the lens of national interventionism, using the group Ordem Dourada do Brasil – the most expressive in Brazil’s current political climate – as a representative sample. Therefore, a documental analysis was undertaken of select official sources, made available by the interventionist group in their webpages, giving particular attention to the group’s Facebook social media page and their official website. The article is divided in three parts: to begin with, it attempts to contextualize the rise of interventionism in the current political conjuncture of democratic regression, then it develops a socio-historical analysis of the development of Cristian conservative interventionist thought in Brazil’s civil society and finally it discusses the ways in which a background of catholic anticommunist traditionalism culminates in anachronistic and contradictory expressions in the thought configuration of contemporary interventionism.Downloads
