Abstract

The preface of Lucretius´ De rerum natura has been treated dozens of times as much for its excellent quality as for the problems of sense and coherence it raises. We hope to give a new meaning and solution to both. Here, we try to solve the textual difficulties of the episode 1.44-148. The key for this is the shared theme of the theory of the schemata.
