This article analyzes the construction of the protagonist Paula, from the novel Pedro e Paula by Helder Macedo, from different perspectives, highlighting her resistance to stereotypes and violence imposed by a patriarchal society. Surrounded by characters who attempt to mold her in an oppressive manner, especially within the family sphere, Paula endures a cycle of aggression and control. However, she does not conform to social norms and builds her emancipation through freedom, breaking with imposed patterns and redefining her identity. In the process of asserting her desires and potential, Paula becomes associated with new stereotypes, such as democracy, youth, and female power. This study thus seeks to understand how this complex character constructs herself and achieves emancipation by erasing the projections of others.
