Abstract

The objective of this work is to discuss the notion of the term “writer of rupture “ used as one of the criteria set by the Nobel jury to appreciate J. M.G. Le Clezio’s work. Thus, three forms that characterize the rupture in Le Procès-verbal, fi rst book published by the author in 1963, will be considered: break with the model of Western society, which is rationalist, urban, technological and consumerist ; break with History and break with the traditional way of writing a novel. Then, these forms of rupture will be analysed in other works published by the writer.
