Abstract

The aim in this article is to start a more deep-dive discussion about the translations into Brazilian Portuguese of the works by Marcel Schwob and about some fundamental questions that Schwob’s works elicit to the fi eld of the Translation Studies. Barely known, even in his country, yet Marcel Schwob is considered, by a selected group, as one of the most important writers of the nineteenth century. Only two of his fi ctional works have been translated into Brazilian Portuguese: Imaginary lives (1896) and The children crusade (1896).
