Abstract

This paper suggests a reflection on models of prophetic language during the Renaissance and Baroque. These models are closely related with the notion of the Revelation in Christian and Jewish communities in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and with the process about how these communities received the prophecy and see the prophet. The prophetic works of poets and other writers also provide a framework for reflection about the new roles of the prophetical message of the Revelation and prophetic literature involved in these European communities impacted by great political and social transformations.
