Abstract

This essay presents an analysis of the film Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen taking into account a comparison between the themes and the structures employed by the authors Henry James and August Strindberg. The emphasis of the essay falls, on the one hand, on the analysis of the figure of the American writer who seeks a solution to his creative problems in Europe and, on the other hand, on a reflection about the use of point of view in film and in literature. In the conclusion of the essay, we try to show how Woody Allen reshapes the repertory of the two writers in order to deal with contemporary issues.
