Abstract

The book Cinematographo: chronicas cariocas by João do Rio not only establishes for the first time in our literature a technical approach between the work of both the writer and the cameraman, but also situates the Brazilian author as a first modernist by the way he observes the growing metropolis from the standpoint of the modern techniques of observation which are similar to those practiced in the early cinema.
