Abstract

This article examines Celan’s notes and other texts, in which the author refers explicitly to Judaism. Terms like Jude, jüdisch, or pejoratives and caricatured physical descriptions are analyzed, in order to unterstand what the relations between Celan’s judaism and his poetological reflection are. The analysis of Celan’s ideas suggests that “jüdisch” means a specific ethos and describes one of the conditions of possibility of poetry.
