Abstract

Firstly this paper aims to make some general considerations about the cycle of novellas Corpo de baile, published by João Guimarães Rosa in January 1956. Then, in the context of the book – considered here as a modern representation of the millenary topos of the world machine – we intend to critically evaluate the novella “O recado do morro” [The message of the hill], applying to the analysis concepts such as mythpoetry, cosmopoetry and allegory.
