Abstract

The work presented here has been the goal to establish some characteristics that approach the German concept of novel training Bildunsroman with the children´s literature lobatiana Memories of Emily published in 1936. For Bildungsroman understands a category of literary genre through a way dynamic social, guided by a narrative that works simultaneously with conflict established by the individual and collective spheres, and the possibility of realization of the protagonist, in the sense of their self-training. In this sense, the proposed work established the relationships between socioeconomic anda educational transformations of Brazil in the 30s with the actions of the character Emily.
