A SCENARIO OF UNCERTAINTY: THE IMPACTS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE LIVES OF DOMESTIC WORKERS

Abstract

This paper analyzes what impacts the pandemic scenario caused by COVID-19 had on the lives of domestic workers. This research is important in order to broaden society's knowledge and give voice to the struggle of this working class. Thus, the article is qualitative in nature and descriptive with an inductive approach. Methodologically, the snowball method was used, and for data collection, the interview process was used. Then, for data analysis, content analysis was used and two categories were raised, which sought information about the perception of the workers regarding the impact of the pandemic on their profession. Thus, it was possible to reveal a precarious condition of this work group that was attenuated with the pandemic, which impacted the lives of the workers and their rights, revealing the need for many of them to continue their work, as it is their source of income. Which leads to questioning the unpreparedness of public policies to maintain this group, especially in times of crisis, reinforcing the struggle of this category for survival in a pandemic scenario.
