Precarius work: the reinvention of old forms of hiring works in citrus agribusiness complex in São Paulo

Abstract

The present work is intended for illustrating how the reinvention of old forms of hiring works emerges as answers of structural changes in the citrus agribusiness complex in São Paulo in the 90’s. Thus, it is concluded that a new class of hiring rural work named Rural Producers Partnership created for guaranteeing the formalization of the job and labor rights, reproduce an old practice: the intermediary manpower promoted by the recruitment agents (gatos).
