Hackers make up a heterogeneous group of people whose common denominator is “doing hacker”, or hacker culture, whose principles are based on subversiveness and transgression, in order to solve problems in a creative way. Thinking about transgressions motivated by the satisfaction of “hacking”, this article aims to analyze how hacker culture implies a meaningful activity. To this end, an integrative literature review on the topic is carried out, linked to the theoretical contributions of Work Psychodynamics. As a result, it stands out that hacker work is guided by doing that presents adaptations and strategies, permeated by constant attempts and failures. Such experiences of suffering, however, are responsible for creating conditions for the search for solutions, enabling the achievement of advanced objectives and, consequently, the transformation of this work activity into pleasure.
