The initiative to search for an analysis and classification of headwaters of urbanized rivers is due not only to the lack of this type of publication, but also to the need for correct river management by government agents and the population. In this way, using a systemic analysis of the components of the river and the city that surrounds it, it is possible to draw up an analysis and classification of the river according to certain variables, which will be mentioned in this publication. The methodologies selected for the analysis and classification are based on the proposal by Gomes et al. (2005), which uses the Classification of the Degree of Impact of Springs (2004) and the Guide to Water Quality Assessment (2004), integrating the methodology proposed by Carvalho et al. (2010), which aims to apply typologies to urban river channels. As a result of the applications, a macroscopic analysis and environmental classification of 04 headwaters Tatuí River were sought in order to be disseminated and presented to the population and public management as an aid to urban planning and the rivers integrated into the city. The results showed alarming data on the river's water quality and highlight the need for watercourse management and monitoring.
