Abstract

The actions of the MST leaders have generally been examined in the light of technical and legal principles in criminal matters, which easily grow into the interpretations guided the perspective of crime. This article aims at understanding the role of counsel in defense of the MST leaders in criminal cases in the period 1995-2002, the region of Pontal do Paranapanema / SP, from violence generated by the State from criminalizing and punitive measures social movements fighting for land.
