Abstract

This article aims to reflect on pedagogical practices developed by social education, emphasizing the social role of the educator in public policy. Thus, we begin with an explanation about the images on work in Brazil. Next, we present the socio-historical
constructions of the social work educator, bringing up discussions about their formation and regulation of the profession. Finally, we emphasize the importance of instituting a practice of lifelong learning that will enable the social educator keep up, providing a broad vision, capable of ensuring quality in the performance of its function.
