Abstract

This paper seeks to analyze the recent history of the Movement of Landless Workers (MST) in its relationship with the state. From a theoretical discussion about social movements, assesses the limits and possibilities of the MST in the political institutions. Points out, in conclusion, the risks of cooptation and loss of its transformative potential in Brazilian society.
