Decisions in the local strategic projects, the case of Simat de la Valldigna

Abstract

During the last decade of prodigious of the Valencian urban, have been many development projects that have lacked a process of reflection on its feasibility and opportunity and, therefore have not been included in a strategy for long-term, sustainable development. Thus, many grand urban projects, soon become frustrated opportunities, with dubious territorial logic, that eventually become a burden rather than a resource for development. The uniqueness of the request received from the Simat de la Valldigna local council to study the feasibility of implementing an industrial estate in the town lies in the willingness of local decision makers to accept a technical opinion that will condition their ultimate decision about the strategic project.
