Abstract

This article focuses on the tensiveness in the short story "O boto cor-de-rosa surdo" by Suelem Maquiné Rodrigues (2016). Following the theoretical and methodological foundation of French semiotics (Fontanille, 2019; Greimas, 2017; Tatit, 2019), specifically within the field known as tensive semiotics (Zilberberg, 2006a; 2006b; 2011), the aim is to demonstrate the occurrence present in this discourse. It primarily explains how affective codes are modulated in a manner that, tonically and rapidly, leads the protagonist's experience to the providential objetal correlate of admiration. Thus, it is concluded that the tensive climax of "O Boto cor-de-rosa surdo" occurs. Furthermore, it is concluded that the semiotic approach enriches the analysis of texts produced within the realm of Deaf Literature, as it demonstrates that the aesthetic work carried out at the level of text manifestation in Deaf Literature does not do without the predication of figural order values. From a practical standpoint, this can contribute to the analysis of the cultural identity of the Deaf community, as well as assist in the translation and interpretation of texts produced in sign languages.
