Abstract

This article analyzes the late necessity for greater influence of cultural theories within the framework of criminology, the start point being the dichotomy between theories of consensus and conflict. The analysis is done within the perspective of cultural criminology, which in the words of its founders, is controversial and willing to play with the parameters of the discipline and seriously challenge the conventions of orthodox criminology. To the success of the work, there have been used procedures of historical, sociological, criminal and comparative analysis.
