Oliveira Vianna and the epistolary debate with political actors

Abstract

In this paper, we shall present a number of results in connection with the work of analyzing Oliveira Vianna’s passive correspondence, carried out at the Oliveira Vianna’s House Museum, in Niterói, RJ. Our main goal is at first to highlight the intellectual exchange between Oliveira Vianna and his contemporary political actors and to suggest that the essayer under study directed his work aiming at an immediate use for a more direct political praxis as well. Secondly, we shall focus on his political-bureaucratic praxis, which endowed him with the status of a statemaker.
