Revista Sem Aspas acknowledges the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to support research, writing, and reviewing activities, but emphasizes that their use must be ethical, transparent, and cannot replace human responsibility for scientific content. This policy aligns with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the Manual of Good Practices of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT), and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

The use of AI tools to generate, edit, or review scientific texts must be explicitly declared at the time of manuscript submission. Authors should indicate in the manuscript or in the cover letter which tools were used, at which stages, and for what purpose. Deliberate omission of AI use will be considered a breach of scientific integrity.

Revista Sem Aspas emphasizes that the final responsibility for the manuscript’s content lies solely with the human authors. AI cannot be listed as an author or co-responsible for the work, as it cannot assume ethical or legal responsibility for the data, analyses, and conclusions presented.

AI tools may be used to support writing, correct grammar, check similarity, and suggest language improvements, provided that their use does not compromise the originality, critical interpretation, and intellectual authorship of the text.

AI may not be used to generate data, experimental results, or analyses that are unverifiable and irreproducible. Nor is it acceptable to use AI to manipulate images, graphs, or any material in a misleading manner.

The use of AI in the peer review process must follow the same principles of confidentiality, responsibility, and non-delegation of the report to third parties. Reviewers must not use AI tools to analyze manuscripts in ways that violate confidentiality or produce automatic evaluations without proper critical interpretation.

Revista Sem Aspas does not accept practices such as the automatic generation of complete manuscripts by AI without human review and validation, falsification of results by AI, or appropriation of AI content without attribution.

This policy will be periodically updated to keep pace with technological developments, ethical discussions, and international guidelines on the topic, ensuring that the use of AI contributes to the quality and integrity of the science published in Revista Sem Aspas.
