OpenSciencePolicy
Revista Sem Aspas adopts the principles of open science as a central guideline of its editorial practice, promoting transparency, accessibility, and collaboration in the scientific communication process. This policy aligns with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the Manual of Good Practices of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT), the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), and UNESCO’s principles for open science.
Open science seeks to broaden access to scientific knowledge, reduce economic and technical barriers to publication, and foster reproducibility and reliability of research. Revista Sem Aspas understands that scientific knowledge is a common good and must be made available ethically, inclusively, and responsibly.
Among the commitments assumed by Revista Sem Aspas in the context of open science are
Guaranteeing open and immediate access to all published content, without fees for reading or downloading, ensuring wide dissemination of scientific knowledge
Allowing authors to retain the copyright of their works, licensing them under terms that promote reuse and dissemination with proper attribution
Encouraging the sharing of research data, codes, and supplementary materials in public repositories, when appropriate, ensuring reproducibility and integrity of findings
Offering authors and reviewers the option to participate in open peer review practices, such as publishing review reports and, with consent, identifying the reviewers
Maintaining transparency in all stages of the editorial process, including policies for corrections, retractions, conflicts of interest, and funding disclosure
Ensuring editorial decisions are based on clear and fair scientific criteria, without discrimination and respecting the diversity of the academic community
Revista Sem Aspas emphasizes that adopting open science does not eliminate the need for rigor, ethics, and responsibility. All open practices must respect human rights, the confidentiality of sensitive information, and copyright.
Practices contrary to the principles of open science are not accepted, such as charging undue fees for access to articles, deliberately concealing relevant data, manipulating or restricting access to fundamental information necessary to understand or replicate the results.
This policy aims to promote an editorial environment that fosters collaboration, trust, and the social impact of science, ensuring that the scientific advances published by Revista Sem Aspas are accessible, verifiable, and beneficial to society as a whole.
