Abstract

Cerebral Palsy is an encephalic affection occurring at the maturational phase, presenting variable sequelae, involving posture and movement disorders. We examined postural changes of Cerebral Palsy patients during and after Hypotherapy, observing postural adjustments. Bight children, aged between 6 and 12, with spastic tetraparesis and showing deficits in basic responses of straightening, protection and balance. Hypotherapy was used as supplcmcntary therapv, requiring automatic postural responses. The children were submitted to two sessions weekly, during twelve months. The studied variables showed improvements, and the conclusion was that Hypotherapy helps the activation of postural adjustments in children with Cerebral Palsy.
