Abstract

This study analyzes the emergence and the work of the National Truth Commission created in Brazil to deal with the memory on the political repression practiced during the civil-military dictatorship started after 1964. To better organize the exhibition, the study is divided into two sections. At first, analyzing the context in which was prepared the 3rd National Human Rights Program version, we understand how it was created the brazilian Truth Commission. In the second, we analyze the results so far produced by the Truth Commission’s work, noting the pitfalls encountered in its path.
