Abstract

The paper discusses some problems manifest in the process of the translation of the humoristic effect, considered here as an important component of the effect of the literary text. The presence of the body, the poetic function, the relevance of the differences between cultural contexts and the importance of the emotive function transform the humor in a serious challenge for the translator. The failure to successfully transpose the humoristic effect of a literary text leads to serious modifications of its esthetic aims and intensity.
