Abstract

This article presents two researches developed in the last ten years within the framework of genetic criticism applied to translation; the first in my PhD and, the second, now in my post-doctoral degree in Belgium. In both cases, I join the methodology of genetic criticism, interested in the study of artistic creation, with the process documents relating to translations: in the first case, it includes translations from English into Italian of Emily Dickinson’s poetry by the Italian poet and translator Rina Sara Virgillito and, in the second, encompasses several translations of classical and modern languages into Portuguese by the Emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II. The goal of both surveys is to establish, within the new paradigm of translation in system, a true transdisciplinarity between genetic text and translation studies, so that the first can assist in the creative process of the translator, understood as a true authoring process, and the second add tools to a speculative methodology in search of its own theory. Finally, the manuscript and the translational activity are both considered as spaces of creation of effective new meanings of signs due to their nature that is never stable.
