Abstract

This paper has two objectives: first, to present a new proposal of poetic translation to the first satire of Persius, Latin poet from the first century A.D., with brief comments on the translation procedures. Then, the subject of the poem is interpreted, in contrast to some traditional views of the author’s work, such as Scaliger’s and Casaubon’s, as well as to the works of Horace and Juvenal.
